Yes at 96 episodes it is long for the genre. If you look over this because it's of older animation then you really don't know what an incredible experience you've missed out on. Maison Ikkoku is the finest romance anime ever made, in terms of story structure, character development and emotional depth. As stated previously, this is a list for series only! Anime that were originally released as multiple episode OVA series will be considered, however no outright anime movies will be included! This is not a list for anime movies! As someone who has been watching anime for multiple years and has seen several hundred series I can appreciate when an anime has true legitimate merit.
